Laura Elisabeth Johnston is an adventure-loving author who writes about friends and family, modern motherhood and midlife marriage.

Canadian born and Ohio raised, she is loyal to the Great Lakes.

She earned degrees at Miami University and the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, and has for two decades worked at cleveland.com and the Plain Dealer, where she manages news, appears on the Today in Ohio podcast and writes a weekly column, Our Best Life. She lives outside Cleveland with her husband, her two sporty teenage children and her big golden retriever. On the weekends, you can find her swimming, skiing, gardening, playing tennis, reading on her porch and generally playing outside.
